The world is full of wonderful and terrific monuments, both natural and unnatural. Some worth their weight in gold, others more. Journeying is the means in which characters can explore and traverse the greater map. The map is filled with tiles that the party can move through swiftly, or stop and meander. The means to do so are described below:
For every three in-character days, the GM will resolve the following:
- The group must pick to either Explore or Travel:
- Explore: Each party member can select one of the following.
- Scout: You learn one Tile Modifier of an adjacent tile.
- Gather: You gather a ration, or a resource from a surveyed Node.
- Survey: You attempt to find one of the Nodes in the area.
- Travel: The party moves to an adjacent tile.
- Explore: Each party member can select one of the following.
- Push? Gain 1 Fatigue, repeat step 1.
- The day ends, see Resting.
Each Explore action creates a Challenge Clock with 3 segments and DC 10. Each action taken towards a Challenge Clock provides you with one attempt. You can gain another attempt, but gain 1 Fatigue by Pushing. If you leave a tile without completing the Challenge Clock, it resets.
If Traveling, create a Challenge Clock with 3 segments and DC 10 for the entire group. The group must roll, then average their rolls to challenge the DC.
The world outside the bounds of civilization can be dangerous and even simple tasks may present more painful failures. Anytime you would gain Fatigue from a failed Challenge Clock, you instead gain a Minor Wound.
Tile Modifiers
Tile Modifiers can alter the default Challenge Clocks in different ways. For example, traveling in mountainous areas is slower and more time consuming, or resting in an unnerving area might make it harder to fall asleep.
Resource Nodes
Resource Nodes, or just Nodes, are concentrations of a particular resource. Any Surveyed Nodes can be Gathered at the die value specified for that particular deposit. For example, there may be trace deposits of gold which would result in receiving 1d4 of that resource when you successfully Gathered from it.
